A tale of two Memorials

A tale of two Memorials

Peter Thliveros' victory in the 2006 Bassmaster Memorial Major in Texas was all about getting one big bite on each of the final 3 days. This year in New York, it was a lot more about consistency.

He was the big-bass winner on days 2, 3 and 4 at Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Benbrook in Texas last year, and there were two 7-pounders in that trio (he captured the honor with a 4-09 on the final day). He never caught anything close to 7 pounds at New York's Oneida or Onondaga, even though he brought in much larger average sacks.

His stringers in Texas totaled 47-07 (an average of a little under 12 pounds). In New York, his total was 68-07 (a 17-pound-plus average).

Both victories had one number in common, though – the 1st-place check for $250,000.
