Memorial field

Shortly after the conclusion of today's Erie/Niagara Bassmaster Elite Series, BASS released the final field for the Bassmaster Memorial Major, which begins this week in Syracuse, N.Y.

The Memorial field will fish Lake Oneida the first 2 days, then Lake Onondaga the final 2 days.

Note that three anglers received automatic berths in the Memorial: 2007 Bassmaster Classic champion Boyd Duckett, 2006 BASS Angler of the Year (AOY) Mike Iaconelli, and 2006 Memorial winner Peter Thliveros. Also note that this is the final Memorial, as BASS cancelled its Majors for 2008 and beyond.

The 48 other anglers qualified today via 2-year combined AOY standings, except for Derek Remitz, who qualified as the BASS Rookie of the Year race leader.

Prior to Erie/Niagara, there was a three-way tie at the bubble spot. Rick Clunn, Lee Bailey and Morizo Shimizu entered Erie/Niagara on the bubble. Clunn finished 58th, Shimizu finished 101st, and Bailey finished 106th at Erie/Niagara. The three-way tie for first out still exists, but Clunn is technically first man out based on the tiebreaker (total weight in Elite Series events on full-field days).

Final 2007 Memorial Field

What follows is the final Memorial field. The 2006 and 2007 combined AOY standing appears after the angler's name. For example, No. 1 Kevin VanDam finished 3rd in the 2006 AOY race, and is currently 2nd in the 2007 race, so his combined total is 5.
