ICAST: Longshank spinnerbait

It's easy to describe the Longshank spinnerbait: a spinnerbait with a long hook shank. It eliminates the need for a trailer hook, and the company claims the Longshank doesn't hang up in cover any more than a typical short-shank spinnerbait with a trailer hook. But the neatest thing about this bait is that it apparently catches bass that might have otherwise been missed.

Company owner Scott Smith noted that when a bass bumps (meaning does not eat) a spinnerbait, it will turn its head (next to the bait). Typically a trailer hook won't hook that fish because the hook swings or otherwise moves out of the way. But the Longshank's long hook won't do that, and will hook the fish.

One other interesting thing is that the baits all have the same head profile regardless of weight. That means some of the weight is along the shank, which supposedly translates to farther casts and a different fall.
