Allen wins Skeeter OT

Travis Allen of Four Oaks, N.C. – fishing with his brother – won the 2-day Skeeter Southeast Owner's Tournament at Clarks Hill, Ga. His 5.74-pound bass held up as the biggest and he took home a 2007 Skeeter SX200 powered by a Yamaha VZ200 engine. The total prize package was valued at $35,000.

More than 350 Skeeter owners came from as far away as Washington State to compete and were greeted with cool temperatures and a weekend of fishing and festivities. Along with Allen's prize-boat, Skeeter also handed out more than $25,000 in cash and prizes to hourly big-bass winners, as well as to overall big-bass winners.

Skeeter director of marketing Trey White said: "This was an excellent event, and we'd like to thank all of our Skeeter owners who participated. We look forward to building upon the success of this tournament by returning to Clarks Hill next year. The Skeeter brand name is becoming a top choice among anglers seeking a bass-boat company that fulfills their needs on the water, but supports them off the water as well."

The weekend-long event, televised by Bass Champs for The Outdoor Channel, featured demo rides, live music, a low-country-boil dinner, sponsor exhibits, children's play area and interactive displays.

Angler Alan Shepard of Jacksonville, Fla. won a Yamaha ATV in the demo-ride giveaway. And the Great Skeeter Duck Hunt – a competition where participants find "rubber ducks" located throughout the lake – yielded thousands of dollars in prizes for participants.

Skeeter also handed out cash and prizes to winners of the Classic division, Ladies division, Junior division and Longest Drive. Roy Stuart of Anderson, S.C. won the Skeeter Bug Shoot Out when he partnered with Skeeter pro Bill Lowen and weighed five fish for 9-05. For his win, he was awarded an all-expense paid trip to Lake Huites, Mexico.
