Michigan lake produces a golden largemouth

Bob Golec, an angler from Indiana, caught a golden largemouth bass while fishing at Portage Lake in Michigan over Memorial Day weekend. Golden bass, which are rare, have a condition call xanthism that affects an animal’s skin pigments and causes them to turn bright orange or yellow. Xanthism can also affect other fish species (along with some amphibians, reptiles, and birds).
