Ike Foundation aids Delaware fish stocking

As part of a continued commitment to conservation, The Ike Foundation supported the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control on its spring lake stocking campaign. With a $1,000 donation, the agency stocked eight ponds and lakes throughout the state with largemouth bass and bluegill. The fish were raised at the Sussex County Correctional Center in Georgetown with guidance from advisors at Delaware State University.

All of the ponds and lakes that were stocked are open to the public and have fishing piers or courtesy docks, shoreline access, and boat ramps.

The 2023 Ike’s Youth Fishing Tournament Trail will get under way this month. Youths ages 8-18 of all skill levels are invited to sign up and compete in one or all three regional events. Anglers can fish from their own boat or be paired with fully vetted volunteer anglers from local bass clubs. Prizes will be awarded to the top three youth anglers at each event.

Here's the schdule:

> May 20 -- Lums Pond, Bear, Del.
> June 24 -- Union Lake, Millville, N.J.
> Sept. 9 -- Newton Lake, Haddon Township, N.J.
