Anyone who's fished for smallmouths in the northern part of the country and largemouths in the southern portion knows that the two species of bass are markedly different in their behavior. It's Joe Balog's belief that smallmouth act much more like walleyes, salmon or even tuna than they do their green-hued cousins.
