Grand to get some big Florida-strain fish

Oklahoma's Grand Lake, which has hosted two Bassmaster Classics and will be the site of next year's Bass Pro Tour REDCREST Championship, will soon receive several dozen Florida-strain largemouth weighing more than 6 pounds apiece. The lake has been stocked this month with 1,250 Florida-strains in the 10- to 14-inch range.

Department of Wildlife Conservation biologists hope the larger-growing Florida-strain bass will breed with Grand's population of the more aggressive northern-strain fish to create the F-1 hybrids that have done well at other lakes in the state. To read a report from the Tulsa World, click here.
