Former Tour angler Henry passes away

Jonathan Henry, a longtime guide at Lake Guntersville who competed on the FLW Tour in 2017 while battling cancer, died today. Henry was 36.

Henry was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that attacks soft tissue, in the fall of 2015, but continued to fish competitively. He competed as a co-angler on the FLW Tour for parts of four seasons before competing as a pro in 2017, when he earned $20,000 and finished 112th in points.

He won the Lake Guntersville Southeastern FLW Series in 2014, beating a star-studded field on his home pond with a 30-14 stringer on the final day.

For several years prior, he owned and operated the BassWhacker Guide Service at Guntersville.

Henry is survived by his wife Alison.
