Lane's event awards 19 scholarships

Nineteen high school juniors and seniors received $1,000 college scholarships at the recent Bobby Lane Cup high school fishing tournament. The 8th annual event was held last weekend at Florida's Kissimmee Chain of Lakes.

The event drew 863 participants. Winners Garrett Thomas and Briar Napier (pictured with Lane and Mike Iaconelli, who came down from New Jersey to help with the event) boxed 20-07. Junior division winners Nevaeh Deihim and Raymond Estavez weighed 16-05, including a 9 1/4-pound kicker.

"We had amazing support from volunteers and sponsors at the event and leading up to the it," said Lane. "Our goal is to increase the number of scholarships that we're able to give out each and every year."
