Roy to co-host event to benefit vets

Pro angler Bradley Roy is teaming up with USA Cares, a national non-profit organization supporting veterans, active service members and military families in crisis, to present the 3rd annual Stars & Stripes Bass Open at Lake Cumberland in central Kentucky.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Burnside State Park Ramp located at 8801 South Highway 27 in Burnside, Ky., and run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Thanks to the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, Americans have the freedom to fish and hunt as we choose," Roy said. "In the past three years that I’ve been involved with USA Cares, I’ve learned just how much that freedom costs – that it’s far from free.

"Our veterans pay a steep price to keep our country safe and allow us these opportunities. These Stars & Stripes fishing events are just a small way that we, as anglers, can thank our veterans for all they’ve sacrificed for us.”

A $3,000 grand prize is guaranteed to the tournament winners and additional payouts will be determined for every 10 boats registered. All tournament proceeds will benefit USA Cares and its veteran and military family assistance programs. Early registration costs $100, increasing to $110 during the week of the tournament. All participants are encouraged to pre-register online at http://bit.ly/cumberland_starsstripes18 or in person at Angler's Outpost & Marine located at 96 South Camp Dick Road in Lancaster, Ky.
