The key to success at Lake Oahe was finding the areas that had groups of smallmouth. That was easier said than done as many Elite Series competitors reported there being vast swaths of water that seemed totally devoid of any fish, let alone quick-to-bite smallies.
For those who did well, specifically the rest of the top 5, once they got around schools of fish, most of which were in their post-spawn migration to deeper water, getting them to bite on a consistent basis required an array of finesse tactics.
