Major League Fishing and sunglasses maker Wiley X have announced a new three-year agreement that under which Wiley X will remain the official eyewear of the popular made-for-television bass fishing series.
"Wiley X came on board early after our launch of MLF and they have been an integral supporter of everything we've done over the past five seasons," said MLF General Manager Jim Wilburn in a release announcing the extension. "Their signing of this extended agreement serves as further proof of the brand's leadership role in the protective eyewear category and they've certainly helped mold the safety precautions we have in place at MLF events."
"Partnership is sometimes an overstated term in regards to a media buy, but our Major League Fishing relationship is special and we do feel like a true partner in everything MLF has done to grow their outreach every year since our involvement," added Ray Hill, Wiley X Vice President - Retail Sales. "Three-year deals aren't the norm any more, but we continue to be impressed with MLF's presence and relevancy in the fishing/outdoor space and what they have outlined for the future of our partnership."
Intentional or not, anglers often have fish hooks and weights moving near their eyes, making eyewear with ballistic properties a smart choice. Wiley X offers polarized models with shatterproof lenses and high-end optics for high-performance angling.
"Our staff and anglers are proud and confident wearing Wiley X sunglasses with technology proven in the military environment and ideal for fishing applications," said MLF Commissioner Don Rucks. "We're all pleased to have a company of Wiley X's caliber on the MLF team and helping shape our future."
