Last year he saw how people with strange headgear got picked out of the Classic crowd to win a Mercury outboard. So he asked his wife to make him a Mercury "hat" (almost a costume). She did, and it worked: he got picked out of the weigh-in crowd. The prize? A new Merc 9.9, which he needed for his boat.
Now that's a well-executed plan.
