Just one sack over 20 pounds at Clear Lake

Day 1 of the Clear Lake Western FLW Series saw just one 20-plus-pound stringer come to the scale at the renowned California hawg factory, where the bite has been stingy in recent weeks. That 20-15 bag was caught by Castro Valley, Calif. resident Bryant Smith, and it'll give him a 1-03 lead heading into day 2.

Clayton Eslick settled into the No. 2 spot with 19-12 and Kyle Grover was next with 19-11. The 99-angler field will be cut to the top 10 after Friday's weigh-in.
