Veteran angler Chad Grigsby has withdrawn from the Bassmaster Elite Series, effectively immediately, according to a report on Bassmaster.com today.
Grigsby was in his second year as an Elite Series competitor after spending the previous 15 years competing on the FLW Tour, where he had one victory and eight top-10s. The Maple Grove, Minn., native had fallen to 103rd in Angler of the Year points following triple-digit finishes in the last four Elite Series tournaments.
“Competing on the Elite Series has been an awesome experience, and something I thoroughly enjoyed," Grigsby told Bassmaster.com. “After several difficult finishes and some self-reflection, I’ve decided to withdraw from the tour. It was a very difficult choice to make, but it’s the best decision for my family and I at this point in our lives.”
Grigsby is the second angler to withdraw from the Elite Series this season. Jay Brainard left after three events following the birth of his first child. Grigsby's departure means the field at the Lake St. Clair Elite Series later this month will be 108 anglers and the day-2 cut will be the top 50.
