Winner predictions

Below, two members of the BassFan staff predict who will win today's Bassmaster Classic, and why.

Jon Storm – BassFan editor-in-chief
I'm going with Ron Shuffield. Luke Clausen and Kevin Wirth are sharing water on Kissimmee and will probably get covered up by a local tournament going out on Kissimmee today, along with the Sunday shiner-fishermen. Preston Clark is changing patterns today. Scroggins is scary, but Shuffield's around huge fish – he dumped a pig yesterday – and it's a gut pick more than anything else.

John Johnson – BassFan managing editor
My pick is Terry Scroggins. He found a bunch of big fish on day 2 and was sure they'd still be there today, and you have to take his word for it because he knows this lake as well as anybody. He's got the temperament of a great poker player and he's just as hard to read, but there was a look in his eye after the day 2 weigh-in that said he couldn't wait to get back out there and bring in another big sack. The cold front that moved in today will do nothing but help him. If day 3 becomes a flipping contest, nobody's better-equipped to win it than him.
