Reese's day on the set
Skeet Reese has appeared in numerous TV commercials, but those past experiences all pale when compared to the taping of the Mobile ESPN ad that was broadcast during the Super Bowl. Reese was one of numerous athletes shown in a segment titled Sports Heaven, which touted ESPN's new mobile phone service provider for sports fans.

"It was a huge production," he said. "Nothing I've ever done came close. It was like being on the set of a big-time movie. It was a blast to film. My part was done in about 30 minutes, and then I got to sit around and watch the rest of the filming."

Taping took place over a 3-day period, so Reese didn't get to meet all of the other stars of the ad. Among those who filmed their parts the same day he did were golfer Mike Weir, race driver Danica Patrick and Team USA softball pitcher Jennie Finch.

Like many of his gender, he was captivated by Finch, a striking 6-foot-1 blonde. "My wife was there with me and she said, 'Boy, you sure like that Jennie Finch, don't you?' I said, 'What's not to like?''

He was quick to point out that Finch was also accompanied by her spouse – 6-foot-5, 248-pound Casey Daigle, a pitcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks' minor-league chain. "That guy was a monster," he said.

All told, it was a unique experience for him. "No matter what happens, I can always say I was in a commercial during the Super Bowl – even though I was only on there for 2 seconds," he said. "Everybody I've talked to thought it was cool that I got to represent bass fishing."

Asked how his Classic pre-practice went, he wasn't so upbeat, but he also wasn't concerned. "It (stunk)," he said. "Because of the cold front, the fish hadn't come out from under the heavy matted stuff yet.

"Somebody might have gotten on something this week that will hold true through the tournament, but I seriously doubt it. Conditions are changing and I think you can throw everything that happened this week out the window."
