Kendrick to visit hospitals during off days

FLW Tour angler Jay Kendrick is planning to visit a medical facility near each of the tournament stops on the 2017 FLW Tour schedule to show his appreciation for the medical staff and personnel.

Kendrick said the first stop will be Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville, Ala., next Wednesday morning, on the eve of the FLW Tour season opener at Lake Guntersville.

He has enlisted the help of his marketing partners, including Costa and Duckett Fishing, to provide products for giveaways at each event, which will take place on the Wednesday before each FLW Tour event. Kendrick’s visit next week will coincide with an employee appreciation day at Marshall Medical Center North.

Kendrick, who is also a practicing certified registered nurse anesthetist, wanted to find a new different way to reach out to people while on the road.

“I’ve been lucky enough to able to meld my medical work with fishing together,” Kendrick told BassFan. “One thing I’ve noticed when you go to doctor or a hospital, the doctors get all the praise, but it takes way more than doctors to make things work. It’s the nurses and desk staff and people in the cafeteria and the maintenance people. I’m sure we will see some patients, but we want to see the staff and say thank you to all of them.

“We’re all consumers of the health care industry and I just want to say thank you to the people who don’t often get much thanks. If we see some patients and brighten their days, too, all the better.”

Kendrick said he’ll be joined by FLW Tour rookie Dylan Hayes at each event and a third angler will rotate in to help out.
