Card to host event for college, high school anglers

Elite Series angler Brandon Card will be hosting a tournament geared solely for high school and college anglers next month at his home lake in Tennessee.

The Brandon Card College & High School Bass Open will take place at Norris Lake in eastern Tennessee on Nov. 5.

The event will feature two divisions – one for college anglers and the other for high school competitors. The two divisions will compete for separate trophies, payouts and prizes. The winning college team will collect $2,500, and the top high school team will win $1,500.

BUFF, Inc., along with Suzuki Marine and the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce are among the event sponsors. The first 100 registrants will receive a UV BUFF product.

“The opportunity to give back to young anglers would not be possible without the help of Buff headwear and my other sponsors,” said Card, who qualified for the Elite Series in 2012 after being a member of the fishing team at the University of Kentucky. “I am fortunate to work with companies that see value in nurturing the next generation of competitive anglers.”

“We’re big fans of Brandon Card and what he’s doing with this inaugural tournament to get young anglers engaged in sport fishing," said Buff, Inc. VP & GM Shirley Brunett. "By providing BUFF UV protection products at this tournament, we’re reinforcing how important – and easy – it is for the next generation of anglers and outdoor enthusiasts to incorporate sun protection gear into their activities.”
