BassFan's Jay Kumar was on Texas' Lake Amistad last week as a guest on the Fishing and Hunting Texas with Wade Middleton TV show. Since Amistad is the first stop on the Bassmaster Elite Series, we asked Kumar about his impression of the lake.
He said: "Huge lake, incredibly clear water – we could see 15 to 25 feet down no problem – hydrilla, rocks, and lots of fat, healthy, heavy bass. That's my impression. Supposedly they're going to hit that lake right on the spawn. If they do, they'll slaughter the fish.
"Spawning tournaments are boring to me – you can't learn a whole lot – but you'll definitely see some big, healthy bass caught."
He noted that local 1-day team events are reportedly being won with limits over 30 pounds.
