The comedy series pilot for a new proposed television series, “Catch-Em Lane”, starring veteran professional bass fisherman Mark Davis, recently won “Best TV Series Pilot” at the Action on Film International Film Festival in Monrovia, Calif.
The series title is derived from Davis’ driveway. Series creator Mark Maness explains, “When Mark Davis won the Bassmaster Classic and Angler of the year in 1995, his driveway was made a county road and they let him pick the name for it. Mark chose the name Catch-Em Lane."
The series is based on incidents and stories pulled from Davis' life in his hometown of Mt. Ida, Ark. (population 910).
“Mark can tell stories in the vein of a Jerry Clower or an early Andy Griffith during his standup days,” says Maness. “In Catch-Em Lane, I wanted to harness those stories and bring them to life because they’re so funny."
The producers are approaching multiple networks about picking up the family-oriented show.
“It’s clean, family fun," said Davis. “Mark Maness and myself agreed from the very beginning to produce a series that could appeal to audiences from 8 years old to 80.”
Next up for the series is this week's El Dorado Film Festival in El Dorado, Ark.
