Theragenics joins BASS

BASS today announced a new agreement with non-endemic sponsor Theragenics. The company, a leading provider of brachytherapy ("seeding") devices for prostate cancer, signed a 1-year agreement with BASS to be an official supporting sponsor.

Along with a major presence at BASS events and in BASS media, Theragenics will begin airing a television spot with Rick Clunn both nationally on ESPN and in several local markets. Clunn will help promote the company's consumer-education message: "Know your options for prostate cancer treatment."

According to Theragenics, its TheraSeed prostate-cancer treatment device produces "cure rates better than or equal to surgery" and "the minimally invasive outpatient procedure offers faster healing times than surgery and works with a lower risk of incontinence and impotence."

BASS VP and GM Don Rucks said, "We're pleased Theragenics chose to make BASS part of their awareness campaign. We applaud the vision of Theragenics in recognizing the significance of the brand-loyal BASS members and fans."

Theragenics president and CEO Christine Jacobs said: "We have a message for men with prostate cancer – know your options before you commit to any treatment. This partnership gives us a great opportunity to reach BASS fishing fans across the country. This campaign is all about our dads, brothers and husbands."

To help raise awareness, Theragenics will distribute blue ribbons and literature about prostate cancer at BASS events. It will also work with BASS to create the national "Fish With Your Dad Month" in September. In addition, it will be the presenting sponsor of the Table Rock Bassmaster Elite Series.
