Birge staying busy

Zach Birge, fresh off a Rookie of the Year campaign on the FLW Tour, didn't want to sit around home for the next 2 weeks, tinkering with tackle or his boat or getting caught up overthinking his preparation for the Forrest Wood Cup.

So he decided to do what fishermen do – he's going fishing.

Birge left Oklahoma earlier this week and headed east into neighboring Arkansas where he'll fish the Lake Dardanelle Central Rayovac Series next week.

"I wasn't going to fish Dardanelle, but all I'm doing is sitting at home," he said. "I keep thinking about Ouachita and what I should try and where I should go. A friend of mine decided to fish (Dardanelle) so I decided to come over a week earlier. It'll keep my mind off the Cup for a little bit and hopefully help me get some momentum going. It'll keep me from going stir crazy."
