Massachusetts resident David Cioppa caught a 22-13 stringer on Thursday to capture the early lead at the Lake Champlain Northern Rayovac Series. He has a 4-ounce lead over former FLW Tour and Bassmaster Elite Series pro Glenn Browne, with FLW Tour veteran Chad Grigsby another 15 ounces back in 3rd.
The field will be reduced to the Top 10 after the day-2 weigh-in, with the winner determined Saturday.
