BCB Championship starts today

Seven two-angler teams from around the country will start competition today in the 2nd annual Bass Cat Owners Regional Championship presented by Mercury Marine. The event is a 2-day test-of-the-best for BCB owners who qualified from regional events coast to coast. With an all-expenses-paid peacock bass fishing trip to Brazil on the line, the no-entry-fee competition is unique to the bass boat industry.

Whereas last year’s event, won by the father-son team of Lorenzo and John Rosetti of California, took the teams to three different lakes after an abbreviated practice period, this year Bass Cat president Rick Pierce decided to up the ante. The tournament will consist of four sessions over 2 days, with five different lakes in play – two of which will not be available for the practice period. Teams will be forced to think on their feet in order to take advantage of the four limits they can possibly weigh.

Today's competition will start on Crown Lake in the morning, then move to the connected Thunderbird and Sequoyah lakes in the afternoon. On Tuesday, the teams will start on Norfork before concluding competition on Bull Shoals.

“We wanted to offer our teams a true challenge and a bit of a surprise,” Pierce said. “Whoever wins the trip will definitely earn it.”

BassFan will provide an update after the first day of competition and then a more complete synopsis after the tournament has concluded.
