Andrew Upshaw, a 3-year FLW Tour pro who was the initial Bassmaster Classic qualifier via the collegiate ranks, caught a 19-15 sack on Thursday to grab the initial lead at the Sam Rayburn Reservoir Texas Rayovac.
Upshaw, a native Texan who now resides in Oklahoma, holds a 1 1/2-plund advantage over Louisiana's Charlie King, who weighed 18-07. Longtime Lone Star State standouts Stephen Johnston, Albert Collins and Todd Castledine rounded out the Top 5.
