Wood, McKinnis to receive Ark. Legacy Award

Ranger Boats founder Forrest L. Wood and B.A.S.S. co-owner Jerry McKinnis will receive the Legacy Award at this year's induction ceremony for the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame.

They'll be honored along with this year's class of inductees – David Snowden Sr., David Snowden Jr., Mike Freeze and Randy Wilbourn.

McKinnis is well known for the long running “The Fishin’ Hole” TV show that he hosted. He later joined ESPN where he developed and produced outdoors programming.

Wood developed the modern bass boat with his Ranger plant in Flippin, Ark., and FLW Outdoors, a national fishing tournament organization, bears his initials. As chairman of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, he spearheaded efforts to establish minimum flow on Arkansas’s acclaimed trout streams.

The ceremony will be held Sept. 6 in Little Rock, Ark.
