Bass Cat adds to Mountain Home facility

Bass Cat Boats announced that it's purchased a 30,000-square-foot building that sits just across the street from its facility in Mountain Home, Ark. The acquisition will increase the company's floor space by 75 percent and add an additional 50 percent in manufacturing capacity.

Bass Cat and its sister company, Yar-Craft Boats (which it purchased in December 2011), have enjoyed substantial recent growth. Bass Cat's annual production was up 36 percent this year over the 2011 model year and Yar-Craft production was approximately three times what it was in 2011 under the previous ownership.

The purchase of the adjacent building means the Bass Cat facility will cover approximately 20 acres.

“We needed it, and when the building became available it was natural to make every effort to purchase it," said Bass Cat founder Ron Pierce. “It’s not perfect, though it’s handy and an easy transition. It took us less than 45 days to complete the purchase and we’re glad to have it.”

Added company president Rick Pierce: “One area will be utilized to expand the parts and service department into their own offices and storage. This complex has a significant amount of offices and space we can utilize immediately. We hope to grow our parts department and better assist both dealers and consumers. All of the parts department will be contained within this building.

"The complex also has an existing conference/media room for presentations and meetings. This improves our services, as well as plays a part in future plans."
