Schmitt seals win at Potomac

Bryan Schmitt closed out a wire-to-wire victory at the Potomac River Northern EverStart on Saturday by catching a 16-02 stringer that gave him a 3-day total of 52-08, which was good enough for a 7-plus pound margin over runner-up David Hooker.

It is Schmitt's third EverStart win at the Potomac in the last 4 years and he did it by carefully picking over a shell bed near a creek mouth with a homemade jig. He earned more than $37,500 for the victory.

Here's how the Top 10 finished up near the nation's capital:

1. Bryan Schmitt: 52-08
2. David Hooker: 45-04
3. Jason Tibbetts: 43-15
4. Robert Grike: 43-00
5. Terry Olinger: 42-07
6. Mike McDonald: 42-03
7. Shayne Berlo: 42-00
8. Rodney Mosley: 40-01
9. Gilbert Gagner: 38-07
10. James Steiner: 37-06

Full details of Schmitt's winning pattern will be published later this week.
