Mayor: Something 'major' coming to Chickamauga

In an article previewing next week's Lake Chickamauga FLW Tour published today on Nooga.com, the mayor of Dayton, Tenn., is quoted as saying the city is close to landing another major fishing tournament, presumably to be held at Chickamauga.

"There's another one I can't disclose that's way bigger than FLW," Mayor Gary Louallen told the website. "It's going to be major."

Chickamauga has been one of the hottest lakes in the country this year, especially during the pre-spawn when it seemed like the lake was producing 35- to 40-pound stringers every weekend.

The mayor's statement will likely fuel speculation that FLW could be considering Chick as a potential site for the 2014 Forrest Wood Cup or that B.A.S.S. is planning to put Chick on its Elite Series schedule next year or eyeing it for the 2015 Bassmaster Classic. Those scenarios seem to be the only options that would qualify as "bigger than FLW" in the bass tournament realm.

Chattanooga, Tenn., is 40 miles south of Dayton and would appear to have enough amenities (hotels, arena, convention space) to host an event like the Cup or Classic.
