Kriet's house in TX destroyed by fire

A house in Port O’Connor, Texas, partially owned by Bass Pro Tour angler Jeff Kriet, was destroyed by a fire Sunday night.

No injuries were reported as the house was vacant at the time of the fire. Kriet and fellow Bass Pro Tour angler Gerald Spohrer, and two others, spent all day Sunday and Sunday night on the water fishing for tuna. When they got within cellular range while returning to shore Monday afternoon, Kriet said he received several messages alerting him to the fire.

According to information Kriet received, the fire started around 8 p.m. Sunday and destroyed the four-bedroom, four-bathroom home, along with two pickup trucks, the trailer for a 37-foot Freeman 37VH sportfishing boat and thousands of dollars worth of tackle.

Kriet, an avid saltwater fisherman, and three others share ownership of the house located a few blocks from Espiritu Santo Bay.
