B.A.S.S. revises Elite Series points structure

B.A.S.S. has revised the points system for its Elite Series tournaments for 2016. In response to angler input, the points system will be based on field size rather than working on a flat 100-point system.

For the past two seasons, the Elite Series field has exceeded 100 participants and it’s expected to be at 111 this season. Under the old system, those who finished 101st or below did not receive any points even if they weighed legal fish over the first 2 days of competition. Under the new structure, for instance, if there are 110 anglers in the field, the winner will receive 110 points, 2nd will receive 109 and so on.

The field size for the season opener at the St. Johns River will determine the points system for the season. If 111 anglers compete at the St. Johns River, the winner at each Elite Series event for the season will receive 111 points, regardless of field size for the subsequent tournaments.

As has been the rule in the past, anglers who do not weigh in a legal-sized fish will not accumulate points.
