Jay Yelas – Practice
Tuesday, May 31, 2005

I've had probably more bites this practice than any practice all season. I can't recall a practice this year when I had so many bites. It's fun to go out and get 30 bites a day. Granted, two-thirds of them are short fish, but that's still a lot of bass. So in this tournament, I think it's not a question of limits, but just getting the good bites to separate yourself from the pack.

I'd be surprised if there weren't at least 40 limits caught tomorrow, or maybe 50. It's unusual when everybody limits. But I think all those weights will be stacked from 8 to 12 pounds. The guys who can get up there to 12 or better – that's the ticket. That's the number to look for.

It's a very fertile lake with tons of threadfin shad, and a lot of bluegill too. What it doesn't have is a lot of cover. There's just some stumps and that's about it.

I feel good about my prospects. I've had some quality bites – a few. I've done this enough to know when I like my chances going in. I feel like I should be in the hunt.
