I didn't like the wind very much today. They said it was supposed to blow 5 to 10, but it blew a lot more than that. Tomorrow they say it's going to be 10 to 15, but it always seems like it's 8 to 10 miles an hour more than what they say out on the water. The wind makes it hard to learn a new place like this. It's hard to graph and it's hard to fish. We did have a couple hours with decent weather. I feel like I can do more in 4 hours of calm weather than in 2 days of windy weather.

When you find something you want to fish, it's hard to hold the boat in 3-foot waves. The water was a weird color, too. I came up here thinking it would be clear, but it was shockingly dirty. It had a tanic look to it, but you could still see 10 to 14 feet in most places.

I caught quite a few fish – a lot of 2- to 2 1/2-pounders. I think there will be a lot of 4-pounders weighed in, but it's going to get tougher as the week goes on. I think we'll catch them good on the first day just because the fish seem to be real aggressive and they're eating. They're acting like typical smallmouth this time of year. Last week, it was in the 70s up here and now it's down in the low 50s so they've had a week to adjust to the cooler weather.
