(Wednesday) was definitely better than it has been. The thing I have to remember is for me, tough practices usually mean better tournaments. Do I think I've found the winning spot? I haven't seen that yet, but things are changing. I did find one little spot that seemed like it had a lot of fish – I could see them there. I did actually get a couple of bites pretty quick so I'm anxious to see what happens Friday.

The water temperature coming up didn't make as much of a difference as I thought it would make. The thing we really need is some sun and I think we're supposed to have some Friday. I think that will really help. It was nice out today, but that sun is the key. If we can get some sun, it might be a whole different ball game. It'll bring those fish up in the water column and bring them more toward the banks as well.

The grass is hard to find. I was here in December and there was too much grass. Now, there's so little grass that it's hard to find decent grass. It'll be interesting to see when everybody plays their cards Friday how guys are grouped up and where everybody's at. It'll be interesting.

I didn't do well today. I was looking for just big ones today. I had a couple big bites, but I missed them. It's hard to rate my practice because I wouldn't sit there and hit areas. I'd get one or two bites and then I'd leave. I wouldn't sit and catch them. I just wanted to see if the area was good and then keep moving.

I found it hard to catch more than 20 pounds. That surprised me. There are a lot of 5-pounders in here, but I didn't figure them out as well as I wanted to. I think they're in some of the areas I found. I just haven't picked it apart like I'm going to once the tournament starts. I didn't want to pummel them or show off too much stuff. We'll see what happens. I'm not too concerned. I've already done all I can do.

I have some deep spots and a lot of shallow spots, but it's been slow. You can catch a lot of little ones, but we're not fishing for those this week.
