RE: FFS poll – Wow! FFS is horrible. Alabama Rig is horrible. The 250-hp motor is horrible. The foot-steer trolling motor is horrible. Why, oh, why is everyone so afraid of innovation and new technology?

RE: FFS poll – Honestly, I think FFS is here to stay and with technology growing at the rate it is, the FFS and fishfinder technology we will have 10 years from now will make the current FFS look like it is from the Stone Age. I'll go out on a limb and say not too far down the road, more than likely your fish finder will be driven by software loaded on to your outboard's ECM. You'll just have monitors or heads-up display to view it all.
RE: FFS poll – If not monitored, FFS has the potential to decimate fish populations, mainly bass and crappie.
RE: FFS poll – FFS will only get support in this vote because the people that voted for it have already purchased it. it is too late to ban it now, too many people already have it.
RE: FFS poll – I hate it because my generation who learned to fish using our experience and instincts are completely undermined by instant visual proof as to where and how the fish are setting up. It’s ruined top-level tournament fishing for me.
RE: FFS poll – I'm for it.
RE: FFS poll – I am a NO on FFS.
RE: FFS poll – Strongly vote to keep FFS. I got it late last fall and love it. It makes fishing fun again and I am certainly not hurting the fishing stocks, rather I am learning a ton more about bass that we were all taught wrong for such a long time.
RE: FFS poll – I'm against forward-facing sonar.
RE: FFS poll – Ban it – it will destroy fishing.
RE: FFS poll – Limit use to one transducer.
RE: FFS poll – Fishing with FFS requires little to no actual fishing skill. It is nothing more than an advanced video game. The only skill required to find fish is watch the screen. Can they skip a jig under a dock, walk the dog with a Spook, or any of the other skills required to be a complete angler? If they are "elite" anglers they don't need to use FFS.
RE: FFS poll – As much as I dislike FFS in tournaments, I hate to see the government involved in regulating us at all. The tournament organization needs to limit its use. State agencies need to manipulate the bag limits to prevent depleting the resource.
RE: FFS poll – Bass tournaments should be a measure of anglers' ability to read water and use their instincts to catch fish in a tournament ... FFS contradicts these traits. All mainstream sports have equipment committees to determine if a piece of equipment conforms with a sport's traditional intention for play. The big circuits should have had a policy in place – anglers cannot catch fish using technology that enables an angler to see fish in real time. FFS is too much technology for this game.
RE: Surman's Elite quest – Great article and interview with Mike! Thanks, John! Being 60-plus myself, I'm pulling for him to make it.
RE: FFS poll – Ban forward-facing sonar, it is killing our sport! Most of the high tech that has come out in recent years is taking away the outdoor experience, the thrill of being in nature and relying on your instincts and experience. I don't have to catch fish to enjoy a trip outdoors. It is the sounds and smells and sights I encounter that are memorable. In today's world, fish don't account for much and are being used as pawns in a video game of greed chasing a dollar. Sad.
RE: FFS poll – I would like to see FFS banned. I have one installed on my Ranger and I use it sometimes, but it takes the real fun away from bass fishing. I will gladly remove it if North Carolina would ban FFS.
RE: FFS poll – I am 78 and I don't have it on my boat, but I don't care if fisherman use it. If you fish big tournaments, you'd better learn to use it. I am a B.A.S.S. Nation fisherman and guys use it, so i don't mind.
RE: FFS poll – I cannot afford this stuff, but you still have to be able to find and catch fish. Besides, I fish shallow, so this should leave more fish for me as I see FFS as an off-bank deal mostly. Let's not go to to a "keep off my lawn" program.
RE: FFS poll – No more than five units should be allowed – three front, two back.
