U.S. sweeps Top 3 at Pan American Championship

Led by the duo of Larry Nixon and Joey Cifuentes, the U.S. swept the Top 3 positions in the final standings at the 2023 Pan American Bass Fishing Championship, held over the weekend at Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Ark.

The event featured 72 anglers from nine countries. In addition to the U.S., anglers from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, Guatemala and El Salvador competed. In a separate competition held simultaneously, the U.S. topped South Africa and the Philippines for the Challenge Cup title.

Nixon and Cifuentes took top honors with two five-fish limits that weighed a combined 24-05. Close behind were Justin Hamner and Hilary Martin (daughter of Scott and granddaughter of Roland) with 24-03. David Dudley and Michelle Jalaba were third with 23-15.

The Puerto Rican duo of Jans Rafael Santiago Jr. and Jose J. Cruz De Leon were fourth with 23-05, followed by the Mexican team of Ricardo Gonzalez and Alejandro Morales with 21-00.

Other American teams were John Cox and Keith Carson (7th, 19-13), Fred Roumbanis and Ron Nelson (8th, 19-06), Stephen Browning and Hannah Wesley (9th, 19-04), Scott Martin and Roland Martin (11th, 17-15) and Tyler Rivet and Brock Mosley (14th, 17-05).
