Most crankbaits perform as expected right out of the package, but some anglers like to make alterations to the bait to change up its action or how fast it rises on the pause.

Longtime pro Mike McClelland is always tinkering with different sizes of treble hooks on his crankbaits and he thinks you can get more out of a bait by simple trial and error with various hooks.
