The swimbait craze that has swept the bass fishing world over the last few years has shown no signs of slowing down and Megabass introduced two new tools at ICAST last week that anglers can turn to when hunting for those big bites.

I-SLIDE 185
The new I-SLIDE swimbait is a 7 1/3-inch, 2-ounce jointed bait loaded with features. For starters, it's able to do a 360-degree turn with a quick twitch of the rod. This allows the bait to briefly escape a predator's eyesight then reappear moments later to trigger a reaction strike. This technique has proven to work when water temperatures are below 60 degrees.

Under a steady retrieve, the I-SLIDE performs a smooth “S” swimming motion and communicates lure action feedback to the angler at all times.

MAGHOLD is one of the innovative features of the I-SLIDE. It features built-in magnets that hold the treble hooks in place, minimizing snagging and streamlining the bait's action and profile. MAGHOLD also eliminates line tangle when performing 360-degree turns and aligns the hook-points for an ideal hookset.

By changing retrieve speed, I-SLIDE’s S-Motion can be tuned for wide or tight action. This allows users to target visible structure incredibly tightly.

Orochi XX Leviathan
Building on the U.S. release of its Orochi XX series of rods last year, Megabass added several models and actions to the lineup for 2014-15. Among them is the super heavy-duty Leviathan model, an 8-foot rod that's able to handle baits up to 8 ounces. It's rated as a 10-power rod, but isn't overly stiff or heavy for a rod of its size.

It will handle all ranges of swimbaits, including the I-SLIDE 185, and could also double as a heavy-duty flipping and punching rod.

In the embedded video below, Aaron Martens shares his thoughts on the I-SLIDE and Leviathan rod.
