Shallow-running square-bill crankbaits have exploded in popularity over the past few years as have hollow-body frogs.

Thanks to the folks at Japanese company Kahara, anglers can now have the best of both worlds with the KJ Crank, a soft, hollow-body bait that features the action of a square-bill crankbait with a double frog hook which allows the bait to be fished in thick vegetation and around heavy cover without getting hung up.

The bill is also made of soft plastic so it deflects well off cover. Treble hooks can also be added to the bait to give it the classic crankbait look.

The bait will come in a rounded lip design and also a square-bill model with eight colors available. Mid-September is the target time for availability. It'll sell for $11.

In the video below, pro angler Michael Murphy explains a little more about the KJ Crank and shows off how it looks in the water.
