The Lew’s slogan "Lighter, Faster, Stronger" aren't just words on a poster or brochure. It's the foundation for how the company works to bring innovative products to market for anglers to enjoy each year.

The new Team Lew’s Lite Speed Spool, introduced at ICAST this summer, is just the latest example.

Featuring the all-new Lighter, Faster, Stronger (LFS) frame platform built around a one-piece die-cast aluminum skeletal frame with lightweight and strong Carbon C45 side plates, the Team Lew's Lite Speed Spool weighs just 5.6 ounces – quite an accomplishment for a metal reel that doesn't incorporate any magnesium components.

On the outside, the reel has a light pewter finish with double gold anodized trim and highlights. Inside is a premium 11-bearing system with double-shielded stainless steel ball bearings and Zero-Reverse anti-reverse. Its drilled U-shape spool, drive gear and crankshaft are all aircraft-grade Duralumin, meaning more muscle than body fat.

The reel's casting performance is unmatched, thanks to a proprietary 6-pin, 27-position SpeedCast externally adjustable centrifugal braking (ACB) system. The SpeedCast system uses only the amount of braking resistance needed for each cast, according to the range specified by the user with a simple click of the dial on the outside surface of the palming sideplate.

In the embedded video below, Jay Yelas gives us a rundown of the new Team Lew's Lite Speed Spool.

The bowed lightweight 85MM carbon fiber handles are finished with custom EVA foam cork lightweight handle knobs.

The drag system relies on a rugged carbon composite drag system that provides up to 14 pounds of drag power. The audible-click aluminum star drag actuator lets anglers hear and feel each adjustment up and down.

The Team Lew’s Lite series consists of three models, including a left-handed version. The TLL1H features a 6.8:1 gear ratio that retrieves 28 inches of line per turn. The 7.5:1 gear ratio version, which picks up 31 inches of line per turn, is available in righty (TLL1SH) and lefty (TLL1SHL) models. All models will retail for around $239.99 each.
