It's powerful. It's lightweight. It's sensitive. It's an award-winner.

It's the new G. Loomis NRX umbrella rig rod. While it took home Best of Show honors at ICAST this year in the Freshwater Rod category of the New Product Showcase, it figures to capture the attention of anglers looking for a rod that will handle a day's worth of umbrella rig fishing with ease.

Like its NRX brethren, the umbrella rig version is equipped with top-of-the-line components. The NRX rods are at 15 percent lighter than similar GLX rods and up to 20 percent stronger.

Before rod companies began making umbrella rig-specific models, most angler relied on a hefty swimbait rod for this type of fishing. Now, there's a suitable rod made specifically for the multi-wire rigs. The specs on the umbrella rig rod are as follows: 7'7" extra-heavy power with a moderate action tip. The first three stripper guides are Fuji titanium-framed and the rest are REC Recoil that add flexibility and durability. It features a full cork handle rather than the split grip to give anglers more power and control.
