The 2017 Forrest Wood Cup got started today under hazy, overcast skies at Lake Murray, outside of Columbia, S.C., and it was basically a continuation of the 2014 edition of the Cup, also held at Murray.

Anglers camped on offshore points first thing in the morning, hoping to seize upon the schools of largemouth chasing bait to the surface. Many were successful while other struggled. The sun poked through around 9:30 a.m. and then the running and gunning began as competitors tried to time their rotation through certain areas.
