Although the weather wasn't usually up to chamber of commerce standards, the 2014 Bassmaster Elite Series season nonetheless got off to a fine start last week at Lake Seminole in Georgia. Plenty of storylines emerged, topped by Brett Hite's second tour-level victory in three outings this year.
Below is a photo gallery of some of the prominent players at the event, all of whom hope that there are many more highlights ahead as the new campaign continues to unfold.

Happy-go-lucky Charlie Hartley made a rare Sunday appearance – his 12th-place finish was his highest on the Elite Series since 2007.
Pain Relief
Byron Velvick made his first Elite appearance since 2012 after sitting out last year due to continued issues with his surgically repaired neck. His final placement in the event (9th) was his best showing since he won at Clear Lake in 2010.
That'll Do It!
Brett Hite knew he had his second tour-level win of 2014 wrapped up when he boated this 8-pounder on day 4.
A Heckuva Start
Shaw Grigsby led after day 1 with a tournament-best 30-05 stringer, but none of his succeeding sacks were heavier than 16 1/2 pounds and he ended up 9th.
Big-Time Comeback
Greg Hackney started day 2 in 100th place, but made the money cut with a sack that weighed more than 23 pounds.
Fresh Face
Justin Lucas, competing in his first Elite event after transferring over from the FLW Tour, notched a 10th-place finish.
A Fine Beginning
Brandon Lester, a true rookie from Tennessee, launched his pro career with a 21st-place showing.
She's A Beaut!
Takahiro Omori caught some nice fish en route to a 4th-place finish, but some others never saw the inside of his livewell.
