Stone headed for financial sector

Marty Stone's initial retirement from tour-level fishing lasted just 1 year. Now the same can be said for his comeback.

Stone, the longtime Bassmaster pro from North Carolina who sat out the 2011 campaign before fishing the FLW Tour last year, announced on his Facebook page that he's stepping away from pro fishing once again. The post states that he'll fish nine BFLs and some team events this year and continue in his role as color commentator for Major League Fishing (he was part of MLF's original investment group).

He wrote that his latest career decision was prompted when four of his major sponsorship contracts were halved following the November election. He'll now go to work for wealth-management giant Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, which he'd been training for prior to his comeback.

He starts his new job on Feb. 11. To visit his Facebook page, click here.
