Bassmaster Elite Series pro Aaron Martens competed in the Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday, finishing below his target time of 4 hours. This yearís All-Star champion, who's shown in the center of the photograph to the right, completed the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours, 56 minutes, 10 seconds.
ďEverybody was pushing themselves to the point of collapse. Itís pretty awesome,Ē Martens said a few minutes after completing his first marathon. ďItís the hardest physical experience Iíve ever put my body through. Itís incredible.Ē
He said the final couple miles were the toughest stretch, but he still achieved his goal of a sub-4-hour race. His training wasnít what he had hoped it would be over the last couple months. In addition to tournament commitments, he had a bout of walking pneumonia 3 weeks ago that hampered in preparation.
ďI want to do another one when Iíve been able to train right, but itís so hard to get all the training in with my schedule,Ē he added.
