Dave Mansue of Texas has been re-elected president of the Professional Anglers Association by the PAA Board of Directors.
Mansue, 59, lives on Toledo Bend Reservoir and competes on the PAA Tournament Series and Bassmaster Central Open circuit. He moved there in 2009 with his wife, Andrea, upon his retirement as a lieutenant after a 30-year career with the West Windsor (N.J.) Police Department.
Other officers elected for the 2012-13 term are VP Kurt Dove of Texas, treasurer Brian Snowden of Missouri and secretary Mike McClelland of Arkansas. Dove was re-elected to the VP position after serving the previous year. Snowden had served as Secretary the previous year.
“I am humbled by the faith my fellow members of the Board of Directors have in me to continue to lead the Professional Anglers Association,” Mansue said. “We have witnessed some good results despite a difficult year.
"The PAA continues to grow. Our memberships have increased by 30% each year over the last 3 years. Our strong portfolio of partners has grown stronger by the addition of new partners Missile Baits and Yamaha.”
Mansue stays busy with some guiding on Toledo Bend, as well as work related to the PAA. He congratulates Dove, Snowden and McClelland on being elected to their officer positions.
Nominees from the membership are accepted each year for PAA Board of Directors positions and then voted on by PAA Tour and Legends members. Board members then nominate and vote on candidates for officers. Dove and Snowden have served on the board since 2009 and McClelland has served since 2010.
Mansue noted the PAA’s successes in the last year including growth of membership, the success of the PAA Tournament Series and PAA Tour Team Challenge tournament held in January, and the continued association with the no-entry fee Toyota Texas Bass Classic which will be held in September.
“I have been a member of the PAA from the inception,” Mansue said. “I continue to believe that to improve the lives of all our anglers and their families we must develop a system of tournaments in which we are no longer competing for our own entry fees. As a non-profit organization, the PAA can best do that. We must become a stronger voice and advocate for angler rights with other organizations, as well as a strong influence on the youth of today who share the same dreams of being a professional angler.
“I can assure you that I, along with the entire Board of Directors, will work tirelessly to continue to reach the goals of our organization’s mission statement. The coming year will bring great challenges not only to me, but the Board of Directors and the organization. With membership support, together, we have the opportunity to make this organization stronger and more influential than ever before.”
