An online petition to ban the Alabama Rig and other umbrella-style rigs in professional tournaments has been launched. The underlying premise is that "the use of this rig compromises the integrity of professional bass fishing and creates many other possible negative issues for the sport down the road."
The author of the petition is listed as "Anonymous," as are many of the signers. If you scroll through the list of signatures (nearly 600 as of this writing), there are some names you'll likely recognize, although that's no hard-and-fast guarantee that it's the person you think it is since it's often very easy to use someone else's name online.
