Medlock: Two in a row at Big O

Brandon Medlock caught a 15-03 bag Saturday to win the Okeechobee Southeastern EverStart in Florida for the second year in a row with a 3-day total of 68-02.

“I am shocked,” he said. “I was shocked last year when I won and I’m even more shocked this year. It’s a little unbelievable.

“I was surprised a little bit by this week’s weights – I really thought it was going to take 80 pounds to win. When I came in on the first day with a little over 17 pounds I thought I had blown the tournament completely.

"Yesterday was a phenomenal day for me with the 35-pound sack," he continued. "I made all the right decisions and it paid off. I don’t think there was one thing that I did wrong yesterday. Everything went my way, it was incredible."

He said he spent the entire event flipping a jig produced by his father – the same bait he used last year.

"I was targeting very specific stuff and if it didn’t look right, I moved on."

Here are the totals for the 10 anglers who competed on the final day:

1. Brandon Medlock: 68-02
2. Randall Tharp: 62-00
3. Keith Fels: 55-10
4. Bryan Holder: 48-14
5. Brian Honnerlaw: 47-06
6. Kent Ware: 42-09
7. Clent Davis: 41-14
8. George Kapiton: 41-06
9. Brandon McMillan: 40-10
10. Jeff Fitts: 39-12
